where i live now

Took a walk around the house today. The parents' house is on five acres of hilly land with tons of trees! It's so pretty out here.

a day in town

While Nick was at school on Monday, Susan and Dad showed me around a bit. We went to a couple thrift stores that were pretty interesting, and a cool restaurant for lunch. By the end of the day we had some snow flurries! Sadly, no other snow yet (I'm really looking forward to snow!).

moving back to the states part 2

Hello, US! I ended up having to fly in to Miami, instead of Atlanta, because it was too cold for the cats. So my brother, Ryan, drove down from Savannah to pick me and the kitties up. A long drive to Savannah, where Susan and my brother Nick were meeting us, an overnight stay, then on to Asheville with Susan and Nick. Whew, a long trip, but I'm all settled here in North Carolina.

moving back to the states part 1

I took a ton of shots through the mountains from Cuenca to Guayaquil, and a couple photos of the poor kitties being stuck in the airport after they messed up my flight (we had to wait 24 hours for the next one!).

last week in cuenca

Lots of rain, visiting my favorite restaurants for the last time, packing up, and hanging with the kitties.

home in cuenca

In my last couple of weeks I've been trying to take photos of everything I will want to remember. I've been in this house for over 2 years, now, and I will miss my attic bedroom. Of course, Daxter always sneaks into my shots somehow; what a ham.

around town

going away party with the knitter's

Deb had a potluck get together at her place for a few of us that are leaving Cuenca. Meta moved to the coast, and Karen and I are moving back to the States. It was a knitters and friends of knitters gathering, and it was fun to meet  few new people and get to say goodbye to friends.

black out

Our whole neighborhood was without power for a few hours last night; good thing I found a bag full of tea lights or it would have been pretty dark with my flashlight running low on battery.

cloud watching kitty

If I have my window open, there's a good chance Dax is laying out on the ledge.
